About
Us
The Farmhouse
Café in East Calais offers wonderful meals in a charming
farmhouse setting. Housed in a newly restored 1850s farmhouse owned by Lisa Rubin and
her husband Jeff, the 18-seat café is the ideal showcase for Lisas
culinary talents and eclectic aesthetic style.
Lisas
culinary career started with restaurant and high-end gourmet shop work
as a teenager, Lisa matured as a chef while attending culinary school,
traveling, food styling, and finally building a successful catering business
over the past 20 years in New York City and Westchester. Looking back
on hundreds of successful events she says proudly, I love what I
do; glorious food is a very memorable part of any occasion. I'm
proud to be a catalyst of joy. That spirited enthusiasm
spilled over into her radio show, 'Food for Thought', where any subject
concerning food within our lives is touched on - "but no politics,
please," laughs Lisa.
In the Café,
dont expect fussy haute cuisine with prices to match. I prefer
a relaxed, stimulating atmosphere with simple, delicious food.
Meals are also available for take-out. We hope to
spoil you with simple, culinary magic. The mood and menu will change with the seasons, just like my catered
affairs. Of course Lisa relies on local Vermont markets and artisans
for peak flavor and freshness.
Because the scales have
tipped so heavily in the catering arm of the business, the Café is
open throughout the year with advance reservation when available.
Enjoy an intimate setting with Lisa as your private chef.
